Preparation Method Of Potassium Permanganate
Sep 19, 2018

Due to the large number of laboratory requirements, potassium permanganate was manufactured on a large scale. There are two common methods of preparation: manganese dioxide and potassium hydroxide obtained in the ore are heated in the air or mixed with potassium nitrate (providing oxygen), potassium permanganate is produced, and then electrolytic with the oxidizing agent in the alkaline solution to obtain potassium chloride. Or it can be produced by the reaction of MN ions and lead dioxide (PbO2) or sodium bismuth (NaBiO3) and other strong oxidizing agents. This reaction is also used to test the presence of MN ions because of the apparent color of potassium permanganate.
